Less, But Also More | August Update

PART I: PRODUCT

Compass Calendar got a lot better last month.

  • Simpler. Compass used to have tasks, someday events, and regular events. Almost no one used the first two, so they had to go. Now it’s all about events, baby. Compass Calendar is finally at peace with being … a calendar.
  • Sub-calendars. ALL your events from ONE google account are finally visible in Compass. Type A users with a separate calendar for each side project rejoice.
  • Light theme. An inky, calm alternative to dark default.
  • Life view. Go to compasscalendar.com/life for a free existential crisis: your life as a grid of dots. Seeing how few you have left may make you pause before scheduling more busy work. Inspired by the GOAT, Ollie Burkie, who says, “The real measure of any time management technique is whether it helps you neglect the right things.”
  • Google Calendar sync. It’s more reliable and transparent; just peek at the sidebar whenever you wanna confirm that things are syncing smoothly.
  • Touch ups. Tags, forms, layouts, and the cmd palette all got refined.

PART II: THE CREW

Last email I said I’d introduce a believer plan so early supporters could get more out of the app. After looking at how other startups did believer plans, I saw a trend: roadmap voting, early access to features, $15/month.

Then I saw another trend: 99.3% of those companies fail.

So I'm doing the opposite by offering something way more valuable, interesting, and expensive (like, 66X more).

Till next time,
