🧭 Plan your day (beta feature)

You can already plan your month and week in a lightweight way in Compass Calendar.

Now you can also plan your

….

day!

It’s a task list next to your agenda.

Pretty straightforward, but don’t underestimate the power of simplicity.

Showing one day’s worth of tasks/events will help you turn off that monkey brain and lock in on what you need to do today.

We also added shortcuts to help manage the tasks, which will keep your mind focused and your hands away from the mouse (ew).

To use this feature, you’ll need to opt in to the beta program, which just takes two clicks.

I walk through the feature and the beta program in this super serious 36-second video 👇

One caveat: Day tasks are currently stored in your browser, which means if you clear your browser history, they’ll disappear.

This is the price of bleeding-edge tek.

We’ll be storing tasks in our cloud DB with daily backups once we release this feature out of beta.

(Events and weekly/monthly tasks are already stored in the DB.)

Try it out and LMK what you think!

The sidebar got narrower, icons smaller, and the colors cooler. Here’s how it looks: Week view Day view This might seem like an underwhelming update,...

Compass got a little better last month, especially for developers. Things are faster and lighter. First-time builds for devs are 74% faster. Artifacts are 66% smaller. We ship 36% fewer dependencies. This makes working with Compass a lot more enjoyable. Self-hosting is easier. It’s been possible to self-host Compass ever since we went open-source in 2023. However, actually pulling that off took a lot of time (like, hours). We wanted to make it easier to get up and running. So, we added an...

Compass got a little better last month. Email/password signup. You can use Compass without connecting your Google account. Great news for self-hosters and anyone resisting the singularity. Sync repair. If you later connect your GCal and that connection becomes stale, Compass will display a button that magically fixes it and issues 1 BTC. Reliability & DX. Websockets → SSE, tanstack-hotkeys, and technical docs. Head over to app.compasscalendar.com and try it out for yourself. ’Till next time,...
